Emphasis on Advanced Asana, Sequencing & Advanced Assists with a splash of Bhakti
Miles Borrero’s highly creative yoga sequences are enriched with singing, sprinkled with pranayama and meditation, supported by dharma and fused together with her vast knowledge of the body. Offering an intelligent take on the practice while still respecting the tradition of it, Miles creates that sweet spot where opposing forces find balance in perfect dynamic tension.
Through the lens of a devoted personal practice, good architecture combines with articulate cueing, asking you to tune into the more subtle aspects of the body. Miles will help you deconstruct and put back together your body, mind and heart. Move through all sorts of shapes and ideas and create more space and freedom!
Coupled with artistic sequences and juicy assists, Miles’ infectiously warm personality, sense of humor, and spiritual yet non-dogmatic approach to the practice will keep you coming back for more. Her sweet voice and magnetic harmonium jams pull you into savasana. Be prepared to feel as if you’ve just gone to “yoga church”--leaving lighter, joyful, part of a community and having called to your higher Self.

It will leave you buzzing with energy and connecting the purest expression of joy and calm. Laugh, smile, fall over, roll around, have a party, lose yourself, find yourself, and put the missing pieces back together. Chanting and stories will be sprinkled throughout the evening and there will definitely singing, because it’s how we do.

Opening Out: Sequencing through a Peak Pose
The first two hours of this, will be an asana practice that builds up to and peaks with Viswamitrasana (compass pose) and poses that warm you up well and dance well with it. We will deconstruct and build the pose together, warming up the body in the right ways to set you up for the greatest possible success. The class will be a conversation piece and a jumping off point for the last hour as we discuss and tease apart creative sequencing that is smart and feels good on the body based on a peak pose.
11:00-12:00 (TT’s Only)
Anatomy of Advanced Sequencing: Sequencing through a Peak Pose
Creating a class is more than just sticking a bunch of poses together and there are many ways you can work-- get into the brains of the operation and learn to create a class based on a peak pose. Discover how to look at and break down not only the anatomy of the pose itself, but also the elements that come before and after it. By creating a sound arc in your sequence, students will be able to move through class and towards the pose in a safe, intelligent way that sets them up for success.
1:00 pm-4:00 pm
1:00-3:00: (open to all)
Heart over Head: Backbends and Inversions
Backbends can be scary and intense as we unsheathe our hearts and drop into the space behind us: the unknown. As such, backbends make a dynamic playmate for inversions, which require courage, playfulness and willingness to explore. We are truly and actively learning to surrender, as these practices ultimately limit what we can control. For the first two hours we will begin with a challenging, creative flow that is based on a physical and dharmic theme as opposed to a peak pose. We will warm up the body in a way that is organic and mindful and create a smoldering experience of entering backbends and inversions whether you are building the pose from the ground up, or dropping it back.
3:00 pm-4:00 pm (TT’s only)
Anatomy of Advanced Sequencing: Creative Sequencing
Embrace the in betweens and the unknowns in sequencing and learn how to work with structuring a class creatively through a strong physical and dharmic theme versus a peak pose. They are different ways to work and can both be incredibly fun and effective. We will use the class as a starter for how to build a class in this fashion.
