SYC's first Calendar!

The calendar features SYC teachers doing yoga in some of Savannah's most beautiful hidden gardens.
You will not see many of these residential gardens on the garden tours or the walking tours. The intention behind making this calendar is to give back to the Savannah Community. All of the proceeds each year will be given to a local person or organization in need. Photography for the calendar by Geoff L. Johnson (www.geoffsphotos.com) and graphic design by Leslie Geer (www.lesliegeer.com).
We hope to make this an annual offering. Our 2011 calendar proceeds will go to helping one of our very own yoga teaches here at SYC, Dawn Smith
This spring Dawn incurred some hefty medical bills after a nasty bicycle accident. We hope to help Dawn get back on her feet and out from under the mountain of medical bill debt.

The Global Mala Project Yoga for Peace is now in its eighth year, and will again take place in Savannah, and in cities around the world. The intention of this worldwide event is clear: to create peace in the world through Yoga, by coming together and practicing yoga, in unison.
One heart, one mind, one purpose. This year's practice will be lead by Jeffrey Cohen, founder and director of Jivamukti Yoga S.C. He'll lead a Rockasana® practice, the coolest, most exhilarating and exuberant Rock n' Roll yoga class you'll ever take! Our ability to tap into our vibrating hearts is increased exponentially through the pounding rhythms and driving guitar riffs of the world's most inspiring Rock 'n Roll. From the masters; The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and The Who to the legion of other artists that have saved the lives of countless millions through the transcendental power of music. We'll turn up the volume to let the sound current penetrate and dissolve the armor between ego and the Cosmic Self. You' ll come away feeling like Neo from The Matrix, with a profound knowing of Nada Brahma - the solid world revealing its true nature of shimmering wavelengths of rhythm & resonance. Loud and swift-moving.
This year our fundraising event will benefit a very local cause. Savannah yoga teacher Dawn Smith was in a bike accident several months ago and has amassed some very large medical bills. The proceeds from the event will help her get back on her feet.
